A goniophotometer mainly used for the measurement of light distribution performance of lamps and light sources, that is, the breadth of lamps and lanterns in different directions of space, and the distribution of chromaticity values. Measure the absorbance of light at a specific wavelength or within a certain wavelength range of the substance to be tested, and perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of the substance. If you need to test parameters such as IES files, light intensity distribution, etc., a goniophotometer system is recommended. With With the continuous development of the photometer industry, more and more companies and industries have used photometers, and a large number of companies have entered and developed photometers.

The goniophotometer roughly consists of two parts: goniometer; photometer (can also be a chromaticity test device), collectively called goniophotometer, goniophotometer functions:
1. Metering light distribution curve, that is, the luminosity distribution
2. Test the color distribution
3. Turn the total luminous flux of the test luminaire
4. Provide standard format files such as IES/LDT for back-end lighting design

The goniophotometer can be divided into two types: vertical goniophotometer and horizontal goniophotometer, both of which are completely satisfied with LM-79-19. However, the two measurement methods have their own advantages and disadvantages.


1. The test principles of the two photometers are different:
1. Vertical goniophotometer (the lamp under test remains lit, and the mirror and the probe move coaxially)
The luminaire position is always kept the same and only the reflector is rotated to improve data accuracy while testing. In a specific environment, the factors that affect the accuracy of the goniophotometer are as follows: scanning resolution, viewing angle range, polarization of the instrument itself, air flow, ambient temperature, etc. The most important of which are the polarization, air flow and temperature of the instrument, because when the dual-arm/single-arm horizontal goniophotometer is used to measure lamps, the changes in air flow and temperature caused by the movement of the lamps themselves will reduce the relevant measurement data. Accuracy; the polarization of the instrument will also affect the test accuracy, but with the development of science and technology, the use of more advanced power devices and control technology, the impact of polarization has been very limited.
2. Horizontal goniophotometer (the lamp under test rotates around the horizontal/vertical direction, the probe position remains unchanged)
